In 1994, a group of concerned parents, educators and citizens created a non-profit entity, the Salem Education Foundation, to support and promote creativity, innovation and excellence in the Salem Public Schools.
FSPE raises private monies to fund initiatives that are outside the bounds of public funds. Run by a volunteer board of Salem residents, the FSPE has funded over $360,000.00 in nearly 800 grants to Salem’s public schools.
Thanks to the generosity of the greater Salem community, students in Salem Public Schools have benefited through these grants in many areas, including:
-
Literacy
-
Arts and Humanities
-
Mathematics
-
Science
-
Technology
-
Community Organization and Volunteerism
-
Multi-cultural Learning Opportunities
The FSPE consistently receives many more proposals than we can fund, and we expect this year to be no different. During these challenging economic times, schools must reach even deeper to provide teachers the opportunity to enrich students’ educational experiences.
A strong school system enhances not only the lives of students, but also the entire community. We thank you for your ongoing support and hope to see you at our Annual Spring Auction April 2, 6PM at the Hawthorne Hotel.
Sincerely,
