The Salem Alumni Association is a partner with the Salem Education Foundation. In 2008, a group of volunteers including alumni, parents, teachers and school administrators with sponsorship from the Salem Education Foundation established the first alumni association for the Salem Public Schools. We feel very fortunate to be the recipient of a $2,000 donation from the “I Wonder” Teacher’s Fund. This wonderful song honors teachers, and now these proceeds will go directly to grants that support both teachers and students in all ten Salem schools. In 1994, a group of concerned parents, educators and citizens created a non-profit entity, the Salem Education Foundation, to support and promote creativity, innovation and excellence in the Salem Public Schools.
FSPE raises private monies to fund initiatives that are outside the bounds of public funds. Run by a volunteer board of Salem residents, the FSPE has funded over $360,000.00 in nearly 800 grants to Salem’s public schools.
Thanks to the generosity of the greater Salem community, students in Salem Public Schools have benefited through these grants in many areas, including:

The FSPE consistently receives many more proposals than we can fund, and we expect this year to be no different. During these challenging economic times, schools must reach even deeper to provide teachers the opportunity to enrich students’ educational experiences.
