Rebecca Fenerty was born in the suburbs of Reading, PA and spent most of her elementary school years playing teacher to her various dolls and stuffed animals. In 7th grade, Rebecca fell in love with Boston, MA while on a family trip. And while her love of teaching passed on to the field of Social Work, Rebecca's love of Boston never waned and she landed at Boston University's MSW program in 1996. After receiving her MSW in Macro Practice, Rebecca's career led her to the world of Head Start, a Federally funded preschool program serving America's most vulnerable children and families since 1965. Rebecca's career path included stints in Reno, Nevada, Santa Cruz, California, and Allentown, Pennsylvania, until a job opportunity whisked her back to Boston in 2015. Rebecca now works for STG International as the Director of Education and Training Assistance Services and is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Salem State's MSW program. Rebecca's husband, Shawn, works for Cole Landscaping as Project Manager for their Design-Build division. In his spare time, Shawn coaches the 7th Grade Salem Travel Basketball Team and is the Director of the Salem Little League Majors. Their son, Riley, is a 7th grader at Collins Middle School and an active participant in Salem sports, including baseball, basketball and football. You can find the Fenerty's at Waikiki Beach on lazy Sundays in the summer, at Village Tavern for people watching in the fall, at Mack Park for sledding on winter snow days, and at Forrest River Park for Little League games in the spring. Rebecca values education, community volunteering and being a voice for those most in need.
